We recommend a minimum of 50' when using immersion chillers, to increase the surface area of the wort being cooled. While immersion chillers can be effective, they usually take MUCH longer to chill the wort (no matter who makes them - up to an hour for 15 gallons w/50' chiller). Don't be fooled into double or triple coil designs...what matters is the length of the coil - which determines cooling surface area exposed to the wort.
We highly recommend using our Quick Chill - counterflow chiller. If you need to convert your kettle to make the connection to the Quick Chill, we offer a chiller/bulkhead combo at a reduced rate from purchasing those items seperately. We want to encourage brewers to use the best equipment for the job...to save you time, money, and make brewing more enjoyable.
