A hole must be cut in the kettle before installing the bulk-head fitting.

Holes may be cut with a hole saw, dremel cutoff disks, or various other tools.

A tight seal is made with silicon O-rings that withstand 450F so you won't have to worry about leaks.

1/2" Bulk-Head fittings can be used in place of welded in couplings, and allows brewers to add a 1/2" ball valve to their kettles without welding experience.

Bulkeads are constructed of 304 Stainless and brass, but the brass is mounted on the outside of the kettle and does not contact the wort.
