These are great replacement bungs if you want to use your keg for kegging and fermenting, so you can cut one short. This is also a very cheap source for stainless pipe since the tube is approx 16-18" long. Only knowledgeable people should service kegs. Pressurized kegs can shoot the spear out at high velocities (which can kill), so you should always depressurize the keg before servicing.
