Want EXTRA Precision during your mash? Live in a cold climate and concerned about maintaining your mash temp? Want a durable hard-shell mash jacket that can withstand the test of time? No Problem, our SUPER Mashtun Jacket is designed to hold your mash temp within 1 degree over the course of an 8 hour period - it is EXTREMELY EFFICIENT. Since mashing is generally a 1 hour event, the jacket is "overbuilt" to hold your mash temperature constant! Here is what you get:
Hard shell that is permenently attached to your mashtun.
Shell is modified to have access ports for thermometers, swivel dump fittings, and outflow valves.
Shell is filled with a special insulating material that is GUARANTEED to hold your temp within 1 degree over a normal mash cycle when mashtun is kept sealed.
We insulate your lid and the complete top, bottom, and sides of your mashtun. This effectively encases your mashtun in insulation making it invulnerable to outside temps.
Great for hitting target temps, maintaining those temps, and insuring a higher level of consistancy during repeat brews.
Keep in mind, our standard mashtun jacket is fine for most brewers..it maintains the mashtun temp within 3-4 degrees depending on how many times you open up the mashtun to stir. This temperature drop is not noticeable in the final brew during tastings, but it does require you to have a higher target temp closer to 158F to allow for that 3 degree drop.
The SUPER Mashtun Jacket allows you to choose lower target temperatures because the temperature drop is simply less over time...so you can produce a lighter bodied, more fermentable beer. (149F is the most fermentable wort, with 158F producing a maltier, fuller bodied brew)
We highly recommend the SUPER Mashtun Jacket for those living in colder climates, for those seeking to gain more precision in brewing, and for those people that desire long term durability of the hard shell. Our standard jacket is fine for most brewers and the temp drop of 3-4 degrees is standard in most professional breweries.
