A 6"x18" sheet of 16 guage weld steel is provided, and should be bent slightly by hand over the edge of a table into four quarters so it basically fit against the outside of the HLT/Boil Kettle.
You should paint the bent sheet of steel using black high temperature spray paint. This must be done AFTER bending the sheet to prevent cracking of the paint.
The shield from the front - installed against the HLT. You will need to use one bolt to mount the heat shield.
The shield from slightly underneath
The shield from the back after being fastened by a 5/16" bolt drilled through the tree and shield. The bolt was cut and filed to prevent a sharp edge that could tear the mashtun jacket
