Sight Glass Assembly & Sight GlassWith Bulkhead Mounts

Instructions

Thank you for purchasing a BREWTREE Sight Glass with bulkhead mounts, sure to provide years of dedicated service. The following instructions are a necessity. If you fail to read these, the sight glass will break, voiding any warranty.

Included: (1) 16” Duron(pyrex) Sight Glass Tube , Two brass bulkhead mounts with (2)2 red O-rings & 2 black sight glass gaskets.

To Install:
Installation steps:

1. Drill 13/16" mounting holes (email for center to center distance).
2. We recommend using a hole saw and liberal amounts of food grade oil.
3. Deburr the hole, and clean up any sharp edges.
4. Remove the brass nut, one washer and oring from each bulkhead mount.
5. Screw bulkheads into the holes you just drilled in the kettle.
6. Install the oring, washer and nut on each bulkhead (on the inside of the keg.
7. Tighten the large brass nut against the washer and red gasket until a good seal is made. Make sure the large brass bulkhead nut (inside mount of bulkhead) is very tight so that bulkhead cannot swivel
8. NEVER LET THE SIGHT GLASS CONTACT METAL, IT WILL BREAK!!! IT IS GUARANTEED TO BREAK IF YOU LET IT CONTACT METAL EVEN ONCE!
9. Once bulkheads are mounted, insert the black gasket into each compression nut, and hold gasket in nut while inserting sight glass tube. It may be easier to turn the glass tube while pushing the gasket against the compression nut, ensuring the gasket doesn’t get pushed outward and into the threads of the nut.
10. Push sight glass through gasket, so ¼” or so sticks out above the end of the compression nut.
11. Install the sight glass, screwing in each compression nut end one at a time into the installed bulkheads. TIP: It is easier to install the bottom one first, then push it into the bulkhead being EXTREMELY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH ANY METAL of the bulkhead. Then, with the top bulkhead turned 45 degrees or so, you can turn the top bulkhead (to align with the bottom bulkhead) at the same time you insert the sight glass into the bulkhead, always being careful not to touch metal.Pull the sight glass tube upward so it is evenly installed in both compression fittings/bulkhead mounts and supported solely by the black gaskets (not contacting metal)
12. Once you have successfully installed the sight glass, tighten the nuts finger tight. Check for leaks at the beginning of your next brewing cycle, and tighten by hand if necessary. Make sure the whole assembly does not turn (i.e. you don't want to tighten one compression nut, while loosening another.)
13. If the glass ever breaks, use common sense, stop brewing and clean all equipment until you are 100% positive there is no glass left in your brewing system.
14. Never expose glass to direct heat. Use a heat shield if flames are in a near vicinity, and make sure that ambient temperature does not rise above the sight glass maximum rated temperature (available online at the manufacturer’s website)
15. Have fun brewing, and enjoy your new sight glass!
